Sauerkraut it is a very popular side dish ingredient in Germany and Poland. It is made of white cabbage which fermatas. It can be served warm as well as cold. Sauerkraut is very healthy, because it includes a huge amount of vitamins C and K. It contains also significant amount of iron which helps your immune system and boosts your energy. You need to be aware, that since it’s fermented with salt, sauerkraut is high in sodium. So have it – but do not overdo it:)
Sauerkraut with carrots and onions
Ingredients
- 400 g sauerkraut
- 1 onion medium
- 2 carrots medium
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- salt & papper
Instructions
- Drain the sauerkraut. If you have bought the sauerkraut and you don’t like its strong flavor I advise you also to rinse it before.
- Chop onion and grate the carrots.
- Put sauerkraut, carrots and onions in one bowl, add the rest of ingredients and stir it.
- Serve cold.
