The only challenge to enjoy those is to prepare them in a way so the skin comes off easily. In today’s recipe, I would love to show you step by step how to prepare delicious chestnuts so they taste like at the German Christmas Market!

Christmas Market Chestnuts

INGREDIENTS
- 500 g Chestnuts (Maronen)
- Salt
INSTRUCTIONS
Prepare chestnuts for roasting
- Wash and soak the chestnuts for 30 minutes in a bolw filled with cold water.
- Drain them and cut it length- and crosswise.
- Place them with a pot with cold, salty water and bring it to boil. Simmer for at least 10 minutes.
- Place the cooked and wet chestnuts on the baking tray covered with baking sheet.
Roasting
- Roast the chestnuts for 15 minutes.
- Take the baking tray out of the oven.
- Wet a small kitchen cloth and cover the chestnuts with it for 2 minutes to let them cool down a bit.
