I cannot imagine that there is one person in the world who doesn’t like those warm, sweet and potato-like German roasted chestnuts! The only challenge to enjoy those is to prepare them in a way so the skin comes off easily. In today’s recipe, I would love to show you step by step how to prepare delicious chestnuts so they taste like at the German Christmas Market!

Christmas Market Chestnuts
Ingredients
- 500 g Chestnuts (Maronen)
- Salt
Instructions
Prepare chestnuts for roasting
Wash and soak the chestnuts for 30 minutes in a bolw filled with cold water.
Drain them and cut it length- and crosswise.
Place them with a pot with cold, salty water and bring it to boil. Simmer for at least 10 minutes.
Place the cooked and wet chestnuts on the baking tray covered with baking sheet.
Roasting
Roast the chestnuts for 15 minutes.
Take the baking tray out of the oven.
Wet a small kitchen cloth and cover the chestnuts with it for 2 minutes to let them cool down a bit.
