Traditional German Currywurst Recipe

This Currywurst recipe makes very flavorful and thick sauce for everyone who loves Currywurst. A video how to make Bratwurst in a pan is civered in a separate video on my YouTube channel (please find the link below).

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 onions medium
  • 500 ml sieved tomatoes
  • 100 ml broth
  • 30 g tomato pure
  • 1,5 tbsp sugar brown
  • 3 tsp paprika powder
  • 2 tbsp curry powder* if you don't have one see recipe below
  • 1 tsp Worcestersauce
  • salt, cayenne pepper

Curry Powder Recipe

  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp tumeric
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • 1 pinch cayanne pepper
  • 1 pinch black pepper

Instructions

  • Chop the onions into small pieces.
  • Take a large pan and preheat the oil. As soon as it’s warm fry the onions until translucent.
  • Add the chicken broth and sieved tomatoes. Bring it to a boil.
  • Season with sugar, paprika and half of the curry powder, worcestersauce and salt. Let it simmer over small heat for 20 minutes.
  • Add cayenne pepper if you like spicy!
  • Serve warm with the rest of the curry powder on the top of a Bratwurst.
