Here it is: my favorite polish cucumber salad! In my family we used to prepare as a side to pork steak and potatoes. Lately I was checking the meaning of this word and I am still confused. Some sources say that “misère” comes from French language and it means necessity. Polish aristocrats named this simple dish eaten by populace “mizera”. The french name gave this dish ironic significance. Other sources say that it comes from Spanish “misere arie” and it means just cream which is one of the main ingredients of the dish.

  1. Grate the cucumber into a bowl and salt it. Leave it for 30 min.
  2. Add sour cream, sugar, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Mix all the ingredients and enjoy the salad!
