Do you remember when I told you about this great Texas BBQ party we have organized in April? There where definitely more highlights then the Watermelon Salad and I am gonna share those with you. We in German certainly love serving potato salad for any BBQ party. If there is no potato salad, there will be for sure pasta salad (unless on diet:)). But for sure no cabbage salad! The typical German Krautsalat (coleslaw) would be served as a starter or a side dish to meat dishes, but certainly not to grilled sausage/pork steaks and so on. Well, shame on us! The classic coleslaw turned to be one of the greatest BBQ side dishes that exist! I think everybody who was on that party with us can confirm it. If you are looking for amazing salad that goes well with any BBQ dish I would recommend you try this recipe – you wont regret it.
- 500g white cabbage
- 250g red cabbage
- 4 carrots
- bunch of parsley
- 200ml mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp normal mustard
- 2 tbsp apple cider or apple vinegar
- salt & pepper
How to prepare classic coleslaw?
- Grate cabbages and carrots. Combine them in one bowl.
- Add chopped parsley.
- In a separate small bowl prepare the dressing: mix mayonnaise with mustard and vinegar.
- Combine all ingredients , season with salt an pepper.
